So.... yeah.... I realized much too late that I haven't updated my deviantart in AGES. The last journal was from Glass City Con. Which was in like August. @.@ A lot of things have happened since them, some of which you guys will get to see soon once I start uploading things here again.

This journal's gonna be a bit long, so bear with me.
2015 was a very hectic and dramatic year for me. Once it got closer to con season, I lost all motivation to work on things after having to deal with certain people. I couldn't take it so I just kind of shut down. I'm still lacking some motivation, but things are getting better. I've won a couple more awards in skits, so my hopes of being a performance judge may come true in the near futures. All of my panels have went swimmingly, surprisingly. The skits were lacking much more than I wanted, up until Ikasucon anyway. Ikasucon was like a jolt for me; it woke me up. We won Best Journeyman, and we even made people cry. (I was bawling on stage, but you know.) Then came Midoricon, which was one hell of a bender. But, I did have fun hanging out with a couple people, so that made it kinda worth it. Though, the following cons after that really made it better for me. Kabochacon was the first time in over a year and a half that I won a cosplay award, and Best in Show at that. TAG Fest this past December was fantastic, and I actually had a really good time. It was fun and enjoyable, and I'm hoping that that feeling carries on into Ohayocon next week.
It's weird though, because this Ohayocon isn't going to have any huge costumes, really. I'm making Yuki Cross's formal dress from Vampire Knight, which really isn't all that difficult compared to making Pyrrha. So, I have a little hope. My circle of friends is starting to change a bit, in a good way, and I have more options and things I can do, in terms of photoshoots, rooming situations, and doing cosplays and skits. It's kind of a new start, one that I'm very grateful for.
So, with that being said, I will be at Ohayocon. I'll be hosting several panels, doing a skit, and running a photoshoot for the first time in my life. I'm uber nervous, but I'm really excited. I've already got my mind set on making sure it runs smoothly. And, no one is going to try and bulldoze me over. I'm determined not to let anyone run all over me anymore. I'm gonna take a stand, stand up for myself. Because, even if I don't see myself as something to be proud of, I know my friends think differently, and it's time to start listening to them.

So... yeah. ^^ I'm gonna end this journal with a questionnaire taken from :iconredfuzzypants:, to show how old I feel, lol.

  1. How long have you been on DeviantArt?

    5 years. yeah. 5. Jesus.

  2. What does your username mean?

It's based on the saying "to the moon and back." I wanted something space like, but I never really liked the moon. I've always loved the stars, so I went with that instead. So, there you have it. Tothestarsandback. xp

  3. Describe yourself in three words.

shy, nerdy, friendly (??) I guess this works?

  4. Are you left or right handed?

    Righty

  5. What was your first deviation?

I actually don't have my first deviations any more. The person who originally got me into cosplaying, and who I went to cons with, and I had a huge falling out, so I deleted/trashed all of the original pictures we had.

  6. What is your favourite type of art to create?

    Cosplayyyyy

  7. If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?
drawing in general. I can't draw a straight line to save my life. And, I mean that. I really do.

  8. What was your first favourite?

<da:thumb id="74943216"/>   All the Final Fantasy 7 things....

  9. What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?

Generally, cosplay, because I love seeing what other people can create.

  10. Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?

Oh geez. I don't really have a favorite... But if I had to choose one.... I'd pick.. :iconsparx-the-fox: She was one of the first people here on DA I talked to and watched, and I still love looking through all her stuff.   Moltres by Sparx-the-Fox  Fire Emblem Awakening: Robin by Sparx-the-Fox   Attack on Titan: Miss Mallo Photography by Sparx-the-Fox

  11. If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?  Uhm.... I have no idea... I really don't talk to many people on here anymore...

  12. How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?  I've had a few comments on here, especially regarding my Raven and Aelita cosplays that really make me so giddy and want to bring those costumes back out. They give me that initial joy I used to feel a lot more when I first started cosplaying.

  13. What are your preferred tools to create art?  Preferably fabric, needles, and thread. I've done a little prop work and armor work, but basic fabric is my forte, for sure.

  14. What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?  Usually, my room or my house. I need a lot of space, so now, I typically take over our dining room table here at college.

  15. What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?  Hm... I think my favorite memory.. Would have to be encompassed in this picture. This was a near perfect con, perfect group of friends, and I had a lot of fun being there.   All That Remains [Ikasucon] by tothestarsandback

Saturday:

Arrival: We left a little later than we originally planned, but we hit next to no traffic on the way over. We arrived early with 50 minutes to spare before the con started, so we finished getting ready and relaxed a bit before heading in. Once inside we got our badges and headed up to our panel room. Being early, I signed up for the Masquerade before my panel started.

Teen Titans Panel: First up was my Teen Titans panel at 10:30. It went really well. The room was pretty full, and almost everyone seemed really intrigued by the panel and information. We made it through with a few minutes to spare, and we had a lot of fun talking and watching one of the episodes.

Momoko’s League of Legends Jeopardy: Next up was :iconxxcutiemomokoxx:’s panel, League of Legends Jeopardy. Thankfully we didn’t have to move rooms, so we set up for her panel. She split the audience into 3 teams: Shrima, Piltover, and Noxus. The guys on Noxus were pretty funny, even though they had a rough time getting points. Shrima ended up winning with like 1400 points, Noxus had I think 500 or so, and Piltover ended with 2 points after the Final Jeopardy question. I know next to nothing about the game, but it was a lot of fun listening to them as they tried to work together to come up with answers.

After our first two panels of the morning, Momoko went and changed, returning with food we had packed while my group and I rehearsed our skit a few more times. Then, we headed into the skit review, did our brief skit, got approved, and left. I ate and changed from Raven into Charlie Bradbury, her LARP outfit, for our Supernatural panel.

A Hunter’s Initiative: A Supernatural Panel with :iconvisualsongstress: : The panel was awesome, pure and simple. The audience was amazing. We started off with our normal bit, and when we reached our discussion/spoiler bit, we gave them a choice. We ended up talking for the rest of the panel, which was like 50 minutes or so without any major spoilers. That’s the first time since we started the panel really that that section was talked about. We had a blast, regardless. There were some tears, some laughs, and a lot of glares from Cas. I really enjoyed it, and I wish it didn’t have to end. One of my favorite moments happened at the end of the panel when we were breaking down and talking with a few of the crowd that lingered. One of the ladies came up to me, saying she was a mother there to support her child. Of all the panels they had been to that day, she said ours was by far the most entertaining and fun, even though she had only limited information about what we were talking about. She also said that the relationship between all of us hosts really added to the whole panel, and all of that about made me cry (surprise surprise). We also had another mom who had never seen the show, but because of the panel, she said she wanted to try watching it, which is always a great feeling for us. We’ve had people come in who have seen a couple episodes or a season and then stop, and I always love seeing them get excited about it again and pick up where they left off, or even start the series. Throughout the weekend we had a lot of great feedback from everyone, and it still makes me really happy to the point of tears. (Yes, I am an emotional person. Obviously.) I never thought that I would ever be a part of something like this, and I’m so proud of how far we’ve come. We’ve had crowds of 25 to 30 and some up to 185. We have so many plans and things we want to do, and I’m really excited to see where it leads us. This was also the first time that our Cas was up doing the panel with us. Normally, we have a few of our friends sitting on the sidelines for the first part of the panel. They join us for the discussion and questions once we’ve opened the floor. This time, though, we were just like, “Yeah, you’re coming up here. No questions. Just join us.” And, it was fantastic in the end. <3

Prepping for the Masquerade and Performing: Once our Supernatural panel was over, we all rushed to the bathroom to change for the Masquerade. I changed back into Raven, while Stiles (Cas) changed into Homura from Madoka Magica. Once I was done, I ran out to meet with my group (Steph, Cody, Eli, and Megan) to run through our skit a few more times. Once we did that, we waited with the other cosplayers to enter Main Events. Before we went in, two girls came up all excited to Starfire (Megan) and I, asking for a picture. They were so cute, and it really made me so happy. Right after they had walked away, another person came up for a picture, telling us his favorite episodes with our characters. He even asked if I could say Raven’s signature line, to which I prompted sat down in meditation and said it. He clapped and smiled, which just added to my happiness at that point. We eventually headed into the room, sitting down and running through our skit. They had our audio working without any major problems, so we were ready to go. We waited back stage, to which I finally found the other Raven that had been around the con. We talked for quite awhile, which was really cool. I also bounced between my friends that were there, talking with Kyd, Dean, and Homura quite a bit before returning to my group. During the skit right before ours, we decided to have a little dance party, which made us all laugh (silently of course). Then it was time to go on stage. We started of great, but the audio just got softer and softer until it stopped half way through our skit. I said whatever and started meditating on stage until one of the MCs came up and asked if we wanted to redo the skit with microphones. So, we reset and started again. Thankfully, the audience didn’t seem to mind, which was awesome. We made it through our skit pretty well, I think, even with the fact that in our audio, I did the voices for all characters but Starfire (Jigglypuff and Darkrai were pitch shifted). Once our skit was through, we headed to the back of the room, waiting for the award ceremony. Our Homura won Best Noivce, Kolaios won Best Intermediate, and Kyd won Best Original Design. It was so cool seeing everyone up on stage getting their awards. I could’ve been happier for them. When it came to skits, since there was only three, they had decided to give only one award, which we were fortunate enough to win (Best Experienced Skit).

Post-Masquerade: Once the competition was over, we headed out to the car to relax and eat, Momoko eventually heading to a Sailor Moon panel. I ended up going with Steph, Cody, and Eli to the Trapped Toledo attraction that the con was hosting. It was actually a lot of fun. It was hard at first, since we found a lot of the information and clues right away. It took us a little while to figure everything out, but we did. We came so close to getting through, but we got a little dyslexic at the end and flipped two numbers around. We came the closest to getting out that night. They let us see how much farther we had to go, to which we found we would’ve had it if we had had a few more minutes. It was still a lot of fun, and I’m very happy we went. After that, I headed down to the lobby, where Abracadabra was doing a casual dance thing, allowing people to request songs and dance with them. I ended up doing “Run Devil Run” by Girls’ Generation with one of the ladies, and it was a lot of fun. Neither of us remembered the entire thing, but we worked really well together in the fact she remembered parts and I didn’t and vice versa. After that, we ended up going to the third floor to try and find our friend, getting side tracked by Deana and Cas (Dean [:iconvisualsongstress:] and Homura [Little Lost Cosplay]). We talked for quite awhile about all sorts of things, from our panel, to cons, and everything in between. It was nice to sit and relax, but we eventually left, heading to McDonald’s before going to our friend’s house for the night. We learned he is just as nice as his mother, which really made our night fun.

Sunday: We ended up getting around a little later than we planned, mainly because we didn’t want to get out of bed. We did get up and head out, stopping by Walmart so I could grab some ribbon for Yuki (since I had conveniently forgotten it at home). We got ready and headed into the con around 11. We registered for the Cosplay Exhibition, then proceeded to Dealers. We wandered for a bit, looking around before I approached LIlly’s Art and Photography for my scheduled shoot. She had done Momoko’s the day before during my Supernatural panel, and Momoko had had fun. We went off to do our shoot, moving around different parts of the con. It was fun, though I had wished it wasn’t as hot since the photographer and I were pretty hot by the time we were done. We headed back to her booth, talking while she loaded the photos. Another girl joined us, and we talked for a little while about cosplay and the community. She was really cool, and it was funny because we actually had a friend in common. (We learned this when she added me on facebook.) Once I got my CD of photos and picked one for my print, I walked around some more in Dealers and did a little shopping. Once I went out and found Momoko and Alex, we headed over to wait for the Exhibition, meeting a couple more people and talking with them. Once Deana [Dean] and Castiel came in, I went over and gave Cas her late birthday present: a bumblebee cube. She got really excited and was adorable. I talked with the two of them some more before we went and got lined up. We went down and walked across the stage, heading back to Dealers yet again to wander and chill. After a while longer at the convention, we decided to leave. we went and said our goodbyes to everyone then started our journey home.

Overall, it was a very fun convention. I wish there had been more people on Sunday, but it was still fun regardless. Our panels went amazingly, especially A Hunter’s Initiative. The Masquerade was fun, and I had just as much doing a photoshoot with Lilly’s Art. I can’t wait for TAG Fest in December!

Hey guys! I have so much to catch you guys up on, but before I do any of that, I want to share this with you.

A few weeks ago, I was feeling extremely depressed about life in general, but in particular my cosplays. I didn't think they were anywhere near what they should be, and I couldn't handle it. I was very tempted to stop cosplaying. But, I started rewatching old videos and looking through old photos from past photoshoots and conventions. I realized something. I never noticed how much I had changed. At first, it was little changes. But now... I'm not the same person I was when I first started almost 6 years ago.

With that being said, please watch this video if you get the chance. It highlights some amazing cosplayers, but it also has a very deep message. If you are ever feeling down about your own cosplay, please remember some of what I mentioned in this video.

That's all I have to say for now. Please check it out, and know that we all start somewhere. And where we end up, we won't be the same person we were before.

Oh my word.. Has that much time passed already?!?! Three conventions have come and passed... Here's some of the highlights (and links to vlogs) about each, plus some more stuff. Warning: This is a long one, so strap in.

Animarathon: Well, this one was.. interesting. I had fun spending most of my time hanging with high school friends and family, in addition to some from other cons and college. It was nice having so many people from different parts/areas of my life in one place. I didn't do any panels this time, just the Masquerade. I dressed as Princess Tutu with :iconxxcutiemomokoxx: doing Princess Serenity (and later Sailor Moon). We were joined by :icontakakagaku: as Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne. We did a skit with those three magical girls. We probably would have placed in the competition, but of course, we had a lot of audio problems. The first three skits had problems until they figured out how to correct them. So basically we were screwed out of a place because of that. But none the less, it was fun hanging out and playing games and chatting with everyone.

ACEN: Anime Central was.... kind of a disappointment. I held some panels, our Supernatural panel (with :iconvisualsongstress: as my Dean), and my Girls' Generation Dance Tutorial. The Supernatural panel went alright, a bit too early in the morning for most people on a relatively slow day. The Masquerade was a lot of fun, even though we didn't place or anything. It was really nice chatting with the other contestants and watching their performances. The Dance panel went really really well, despite them throwing us in a long, narrow room (definitely not ideal for a dance panel). I also went to the SuperWhoLock photoshoot as LARP Charlie, which was a blast. I also went to the DC Photoshoot on Saturday as Curse Mark Raven. Otherwise, I spent most of my time wandering around by myself. I also spent some time with :iconpau--chan: and her brother doing a couple photos of Aelita and Jeremy. I met her at ACEN two years ago, and it was fantastic to see her again.
Friday: LARP Charlie and Tifa
Saturday: Curse Mark Raven
Sunday: Aelita

Colossalcon: Colossalcon was kind of a hot mess for me, but despite that, it was a lot of fun. Thursday we had our So You Want to Make a Skit? panel, which went pretty well. Friday, I did Curse Mark Raven for a few hours before changing into LARP Charlie for the Incharacter Contest. I made it to Round 3 (out of 3), which is really good. After that, I had my Teen Titans panel, which went really, really well. We also had our Supernatural panel, which went fantastic. We had over 175 people present in a tiny room (figures, right?), and we gave away t-shirts, prints, and buttons as prizes. It was a lot of fun, and probably one of my highlights of the con. Saturday, I spent most of my time working on my remaining panels. We had our Markiplier panel, which had a lot better attendance then we thought. It went alright, with us now knowing what to work on. I also held my K-pop Name That Tune panel for the first time as well, which went really well despite a few hiccups with my poor laptop being overheated from being used all day long and the audio going out for a few minutes. I eventually threw Pyrrha together to wear (I ended up forgoing the costume all together to focus on panels.) We did our skit, then changed into rave clothes and headed to Sonic. Sonic. was. fantastic. We had a blast chilling in Momoko's van with the seats down as a table. We had fun talking and stuff until we headed to the rave. By that point, I was barely functioning, but I refused to call it a night like I should have. we stayed for awhile before heading back. Sunday, we just chilled looking at Dealer's and the Flea Market before curling up in the hallway and playing Cards Against Humanity.
Thursday: Pirate Roxas (with :iconpoisonedreality: as my Pirate Axel)
Friday: Curse Mark Raven, LARP Charlie, casual Raven and Charlie
Saturday: Charlie again, Pyrrha, then rave
Sunday: Kim Possible

So, yeah. A short overview of what I did. More details can be found, well heard and seen, on my vlogs I've made. You can check them all out on my youtube channel (www.youtube.com/user/tothestar… )
You can find all my photos from the cons on my facebook page: www.facebook.com/tothestarsand…
Sorry for such little details. I've been sick this past week with a bad double ear/throat infection, and the medication doesn't help much. The side effects are just as bad as the illness itself.

But! I still have more cons to come! I'll be going to Ikasucon in July, which should be somewhat relaxing (hopefully). I'll also be heading to Glass City Con in August and Midoricon with our large RWBY group in September (as an early birthday present for me). I'm really excited for the last few cons of the year. Once this year ends, I don't know what all cons I'll be going to since I graduate college in the coming spring (oh dear lord, I know). We shall see what the future holds. ^^ I may also start doing commissions for a friend of a friend, so it'll give me the opportunity to make a little money while honing my cosplay skills a bit more.

Peace Out! <3 <3 <3 <3

Future Cons and Cosplays:
Ikasucon
Glass City Con
Midoricon
Ohayocon
Animarathon

Pyrrha (already started, but will be redoing the entire costume I've made so far) (also my last big cosplay for awhile until I graduate and get my life together)
Pretty fairy from all the scrap fabrics I have

TAG Fest:

So, TAG Fest was pretty fun for the most part. If I hadn’t had panels I might have been a tad bored, but I had plenty to do with panels and friends. So, the drive down was fun, with Momoko (:iconxxcutiemomokoxx:) and I listening to music and talking. We finished dressing and doing make-up in the car, then we ran in to get our “badges” and get everything ready for the Supernatural panel :iconvisualsongstress: and I reformatted. We had a lot of fun talking with the audience. We spent a lot of time talking about monsters and what not, but we also did discuss theories and where we’d like the show to go. Some very interesting things were brought up, which was really cool. I think my favorite was that the bullets from the original colt were actually melted down pieces of an angel blade. Since no one knew about angels, it could work if Samuel Colt got ahold of one. Plus, it would explain why it kills about everything save archangels (since they are very, very powerful).

Shortly after that I did a “quick” change from Charlie to casual Raven for my Teen Titans panel. We had a nice time talking about the show and comics, and we had a blast watching the first chronological episode. Then, it was time for my Girls’ Generation panel. Only 6 people were there, but it was a lot of fun, and they picked up so quick. We managed to get through quite a few songs compared to most other times I’ve held the panel.

Then, I changed into Raven (with my new and improved hood!) and walked around. It was nice to be back in Raven for a longer period of time. Her costume is very easy to wear, and I love people’s reactions to her. One of my friends from college was there, as were a few others, so we hung out and talked.

After awhile, we headed to the Masquerade run-through and the actual event. It was a lot of fun. All the contestants were really chill. I was behind a guy dressed as a zenomorph from Alien? I think it was. He was pretty cool, and I made sure to hold his tail so I wouldn’t step on it. I was also paired with a girl dressed as and angel from Tekken Tag, and she was so sweet. We had a lot of fun talking and derping around before going on stage. When we did the run through, I stepped up to early (they were still announcing our category). So, when the actual time came, she kept me in a hug to keep me from going on stage too soon. She was uber sweet, and she really made everything go a lot more smoothly.

After that, we went and chilled in the game room with Fluxx. It got really intense between us, but it was really nice to relax. Then, I helped Momoko host her League Jeopardy panel, then we drove home. Before we left town, we all stopped at Taco Bell, and we ended up talking to one of the guys who was working. He really liked my Raven, and he wanted to know more about cons and things. He didn’t know much about cons, so we explained everything to him, and we gave him one of our flyers for Bashcon. He was really nice, and we felt bad he got in trouble a little because he was talking to us. ^^””

After TAG, we got right back into working on cosplays to get as much done as possible for Ohayocon, which was the weekend after.

So, getting to Ohayocon wasn’t bad. Once we got there, we had to wait to check in, so I got us on the list that we were then, and we ran down to the car to change into costumes. Once we were changed, we got a call, so we ran things up to our room and got things settled. We held our “So You Want to Make a Skit?” panel, which was really fun. The group we had was really creative, so it made it even better. Then, we ran to our skit audition. It went really well. We had to try and explain what Princess Tutu was to one of the MC’s, which ended pretty hilariously. They also ended up singing Duck Tales and made a bunch of duck jokes. It was a lot of fun, and they were really cool about everything. After that, I changed from Gaara to Tifa, and I did some pics with a friend as Vincent. I also helped one of my friends, the lovely :iconSnow-Italever: get settled in our room. I was so happy to have her hanging out with us. Shortly after pictures, I ended up going down with some of the group from CMB Sharp, who were guest performing with me at my Girls’ Generation panel, and we went down to their music studio for an hour and a half to rehearse. It was a lot of fun, despite how awkward I felt since I knew no one really. ^^”””

Saturday, we got up early to finish our Tutu and Duck cosplays, running down to our panel room for our Princess Tutu panel. I ended up finishing Duck’s skirt a few minutes into the panel, using the excuse “Duck fell and ripped it.” The panel went really well, and it was fun. We were excited with how many people actually came down. ^^ After that, we kind of just wandered, did a photoshoot, went to our room and ate, and hung out with people. Eventually, we had to go to the Masquerade run-through, which was great. We hung out with :iconfuzzyredpants: and her group, playing some card games and talking. We ran into some other people we were familiar with, like :iconxxpineappleheadxx:, :iconsparx-the-fox:, and :iconfrizz-storyteller:, and more. We spent some time talking and goofing around until our skit was on. They messed up our audio (of course >.< ), so we had to wait awkwardly for them to restart it. The skit went really well despite that, and it was a lot of fun. We ended up leaving our bed thing on stage, and Jim (one of the MCs) ran up and flopped down on it. It was so funny. Zach even brought on the other guys who played instruments from the skit before us , and everybody sang Duck Tales. It was amazing, and definitely one of my favorite masquerades.

After the Masquerade, I ended up wandering around with Sno, and we did some pictures with my new Yuki cosplay, mostly just talking. It was a nice way to calm down, and I really did miss her lovely face.

Sunday, we got everything loaded into the car, then wandered around. I did my Girls’ Generation panel with the help of CMB Sharp, in which we performed Mr. Mr. It was amazing, and it looked soooo good. There was a screw up along the line of panel overseers, so we ended up getting cut off earlier than what I thought… So, we went upstairs and talked to the panel people and figured everything out. They were uber nice, and we talked about panels and stuff for a little bit. After that, I wandered down and found my friends :iconpoisonedreality: and :icontakakagaku: for some photoshoots (which you can see in my gallery). I also ended up taking pics of :iconvisualsongstress: and :iconbloodywolffangs:. It was fun,  especially get to talk to everyone and see them.

Then, we ran to Subway before starting the journey home. It took us an extra hour to get home because of how awful the roads were. We were fine for the longest time, until we were about an hour and a half away. The rain instantly turned to snow, and we ended up going like 20 mph all the way home. We did make it safely, and we got everything inside.

Overall, TAG Fest was pretty fun, Ohayocon not so much. Ohayo just wasn’t as fun as it has in the past.

But, Zipcon is this weekend, so there will be a pretty constant influx of pictures for awhile, and I’m deeply sorry about
